Our FB group is at 79 members. We regularly get 10-12 members out for rucks.

When/How/Why did your Ruck Club start?

Clarkston Michigan is a community that has a long history for its passion for fitness. I was an active member of the Wolf Pack running group which has been running together every week for over 40 years.

I began to wear my ruck at the weekly runs and began to get a lot of comments and interest. It took the courage of one of the runners, Leann Cooper, to step out of her comfort zone and join me.

Well, the rest is history. From that one courageous runner, we quickly added 10 active ruckers to our weekly workout. We were on our way!

What sort of activities does your ruck club do?

We meet Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays most weeks. A few mile ruck and a 20 minute WOD is a favorite.

On Sunday’s we meet at Starbucks so we can grab a coffee and visit after our workout. This is a great time to plan and discuss our upcoming week.

2020 was a challenging year but thanks to the great ideas from GORUCK we have been able to stay connected and thrive. We posted several scavenger hunt rucks that could be done individually or small groups. Club members shared photos of their success.

The favorite group event was a Brew Ruck where we put in miles and visited our local establishments.

In addition, the group has participated in several virtual events including Badass Babes and Santa Ruck.

What do you think is the key to having a great ruck club?

Flexibility is key. Fitness levels vary and we encourage our members to do what they can.

Our motto is “building strength together”. Our goal is for the members to be stronger humans and to live their best lives.

Anything else you want to share that would be of interest to readers?

Our most active members are Badass Babes.

Generally, occasionally guys join us for our events, especially if beverages are involved. Everyone is ALWAYS welcome.

We have a group signed up for the BAB event in Nashville this year. For most of our members, it will be their first live GORUCK event.
